Schematic Changes in SI
Some
significant changes have been made to electrical
schematics in SI to better adapt to the Global Format the GM is using. Let's do
a little side by side comparison, in our example we ill look at the HVAC
Pressure Sensor from an 2006 and the 2008
LaCrosse.
In the example to the left we see the 06 LaCrosse, to the right the 08. As you
can see there are a few differences. For one, the circuit functions are labeled
for 06 whereas they are not in 08. To find out what the circuit does, you can
rely on your experience with schematic symbols and knowledge of the circuit, or
you can look at the connector end view which will have a description. If you had
to replace a wire and needed to know the wiring diameter, in 06 just look at the
schematic for that info, in 08 you'll have to go to the connector end view once
again (see example below). Another thing to note is that in 08 connectors are
now referred to with the letter "X" and the connector number next to
it. Looking to the 08 schematic on the right we see
that X2 or connector 2 at the module has the wiring for the HVAC Pressure
Sensor.
Connector End View Text

The connector end view example above displays the missing schematic information. There are a few things to note about the connector end views;
They are no longer broken down by each subsection in SI. You will have to navigate to "Wiring Systems and Power Management" under "Power and Signal Distribution". From there you can choose from "Component Connector End Views", "Inline Harness Connector End Views".
These are extremely large documents and will take some time to load! Be patient and wait for the document to fully load before you start to click on links or try to print. Doing so will only slow down your computer and you may even get a "Low on Virtual Memory" error message.
Be careful if you are printing from this
either of these documents if you do not highlight the connector you want and
then click the "selection" radio button in the print dialog box,
you may get up to 373 pages of end views!
