New Training Center

Above is a picture of the new Training Center at 425 Saw Mill River Road (Suite 100) in Ardsley, New York. Starting August 20th, ALL STC Classes and Certifications for the Northeast Regional Training Center will be held here. The facility has 6 new classrooms for ALL General Motors STC Classes plus ACDelco as well.

Why move?

In April, 1953, General Motors made provision for the establishment of 30 permanent Training Centers strategically located throughout the United States. The first inhabitants were, of course, each division (which then got it's own classroom), as well as Fisher Body, United Motor Service (the forerunner to ACDelco) and even Frigidaire Appliance repair service. The Tarrytown center opened for business in 1955 and over the years has served the Northeast and its 1,700 number of retail facilities.

As the automotive industry changed, so too did the type of training necessary to meet the demands of the technician. The old facility at South Broadway in Tarrytown, while busy (there were approximately 2,100 students for both Hands On and Certification in 2006) was becoming under utilized due to the advent of other training methodologies (Web Based Courses and Interactive Distance Learning etc.) which filled some of the pre-requisites that a technician might otherwise have to come to school to take. Working more efficiently in this manner meant that the building was becoming less cost effective, hence the move to a new facility.

Coming to the new facility the technician can still expect the same high quality Hands On training experiences and Certification. To see when a course or certification you may want to take is being offered, click here.

The new Training Center will also contain conference room areas for training related events as well as a cafeteria for lunch and break. There will be no provision for food to be prepared on the premises.

For those that are traveling in from out of town and need a place to stay, the same hotels we recommended before are still close enough to accommodate you. For that information, click here
